Paigow Poker
Paigow Poker is just one of many versions of the game brought to you by Littlewoods Poker, the new poker room from the trusted name in gaming for 80 years.
Paigow Poker, also known as Asian Poker, is a card game in which each player gets seven cards to set into five-card and two-card poker hands. The main objective of Paigow Poker is to ensure that the five-card hand must have a higher poker value than the two-card hand. Paigow hands are played and ranked as traditional poker hands and in the event of an absolute tie (i.e. King/Queen v King/Queen) between dealer and player, the dealer's hand is deemed the winning hand.
The table layout has seven places allocated, six for players and one for the banker. Players are dealt seven cards with the two-hand deck placed in front of the player and the remaining five-card deck placed behind the original deck.
In Paigow Poker there are very few strategic decisions to be made. The basic strategy for players is to make sure that their two-card hand is lower than the five-card hand. In order for the banker to win money from a player, the banker must simply possess a higher five-card hand and a higher two-card hand than the player in question and vice-versa.
The highest ranking hands in Paigow are as follows:
- Rank 1 - Five Aces
- Rank 2 - Royal Flush
- Rank 3 - Straight Flush
- Rank 4 - Four of a Kind
- Rank 5 - Full House
- Rank 6 - Flush
- Rank 7 - Straight
- Rank 8 - Three of a Kind
- Rank 9 - Two Pair
- Rank 10 - One Pair
Paigow Poker is one of the fastest growing games on the world famous Nevada strip where casinos generally take a 5% rake of all games played. The house banker must be willing to cover the value of all players' bets. The house then aggregates the bankers' wins and losses before calculating the appropriate rake.
This is a similar rake to what the online casino providers can reasonably be expected to receive and it is fair to say that the Paigow version of poker is a very compelling product for a number of online poker providers to offer to a growing and eager customer base.
